AT&T Locker App Lets You Back Up Your Photos in the Cloud

It seems like every company wants a share of the cloud photo storage pie. This past Thursday, Amazon launched a Cloud Drive Photos app for storing and sharing photos through its Cloud Drive storage service. It just so happens that AT&T also launched an almost identical service that same day. It’s called AT&T Locker, and is an app for iOS and Android that “lets you store, sync and share your data in one safe, convenient place.”

As with its main competitors in the space — namely Google, Dropbox, and now Amazon — Locker also offers 5GB of free storage for its most basic service plan. You can upgrade to 30GB for $4/month, or 100GB for $10/month. By comparison, Amazon’s 100GB plan costs about $4/month.

Unlike Amazon’s new Cloud Drive Photos app, Locker can automatically sync and create backups of your photographs without you having to take any action. Once your photos are cloned in the cloud, you can view them through the app and online through the Locker website.

AT&T is pretty smart in designing an app like this — data storage is getting cheaper and cheaper, and Locker’s data usage may compel many of its users to upgrade to pricier data plans.

You can download Locker for free in the iTunes App Store and over in Google Play. The Android app has pretty good reviews, but the iOS version, not so much.
