Acer Unveils ‘Transforming’ ConceptD 7 Ezel Laptop with Wacom Pen Support and 100% Adobe RGB
CES 2020 is starting to rev up, and while we’re still waiting for Nikon and Canon to make their expected announcements, photo and video editors already got some exciting laptop news courtesy of Acer.
The Taiwanese brand has unveiled the ConceptD 7 Ezel and Ezel Pro RTX Studio laptops: “creator” laptops with Wacom pen support, 100% coverage of the Adobe RGB color space, and a “transforming” design that makes it easy to use the laptop’s display as a drawing tablet when photo editing.
This isn’t the first time Acer has used this kind of design, but the combination of specs and size offered by the ConceptD 7 Ezel make the laptop seem like an on-location photographer’s dream PC. The regular ConceptD 7 Ezel will feature Intel’s 10th-gen H-series CPUs, NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 2TB SSDs storage; while the Pro variant will let you step up to a workstation-grade Intel Xeon processor, NVIDIA Quadro RTX GPU, and ECC memory.
The display, which is covered in Gorilla Glass 6 for durability, is a beautiful 4K IPS panel that boasts 400-nits peak brightness, 100% coverage of the Adobe RGB color space, and support for an included Wacom EMR pen.
Finally, since ports are always a hot topic of conversation, the ConceptD 7 Ezel and Ezel Pro both come with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 port, one HDMI 2.0 port and, yes, an SD card slot as well.
Acer isn’t revealing exactly when these computers will be available to purchase, but as you might expect given the specs, they won’t be cheap. The ConceptD 7 Ezel will start at $2,700 while the ConceptD 7 Ezel Pro starts a a whopping $3,100. Specced up to full-power, we’d expect the price of either laptop to approach or exceed 4 grand without breaking a sweat.
Still, if you’re a PC user looking for a powerful and especially versatile photo and video editing experience, the ConceptD 7 Ezel should definitely be on your list for consideration.
