Nikon Unveils 3 New Lenses: A 28mm f/1.4, 10-20mm, and 8-15mm

Nikon has just unveiled 3 new wide-angle lenses: the AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.4E ED, AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR, and AF-S Fisheye NIKKOR 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED. The 10-20mm is a budget-friendly wide-angle zoom for DX-format cameras, and the 8-15mm is Nikon’s first ever fisheye zoom lens.

AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.4E ED

The new Nikkor 28mm f/1.4 is a new fast wide-angle prime lens that’s designed to give advanced photographers an ultimate option in wide angle image quality. It’s a Gold Ring Series lens that indicates that it’s one of Nikon’s premium lenses.

“With a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture and nine blade rounded diaphragm, it affords a shallow depth of field with gorgeous bokeh and stellar low light performance, making it a great choice for shooting low light landscapes, interiors and events,” Nikon says.

Features and specs of the lens include a lightweight magnesium alloy body, dust and water drop resistant sealing, fluorine coating that resists dirt and smudges, an optical design of 14 elements in 11 groups, and a Nano Crystal coat that reduces ghosting and flare.

AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR

The new Nikkor 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6 is a compact and ultra-wide DX-format zoom lens that’s designed for “budding shutterbugs” and novice photographers that are looking to try their hand at ultra-wide angle photos.

Features and specs include 3.5-stop Vibration Reduction (VR), fast and quiet autofocusing using Nikon’s Pulse Motor tech, 3 aspherical elements that help combat distortion, and a minimum focusing distance of just 8.6 inches (0.22m).

AF-S Fisheye NIKKOR 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED

Nikon’s new 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5 is a new full-frame circular fisheye zoom lens that gives photographers a new perspective on the world — it’s Nikon’s first fisheye zoom lens. Like the new 28mm f/1.4, this new fisheye lens carries a gold ring to indicate its premium status among Nikon glass.

The lens “gives photographers and filmmakers an FX-format lens with the look and feel of a circular fisheye and the versatility of a full-frame fisheye, all in one lens,” Nikon says.

On full frame cameras, the lens provides a circular 180-degree vertical and horizontal angle of view when zoomed out, and a non-circular fisheye view when zoomed in. The lens can also be used on crop sensor cameras for “a distinctive point-of-view and extreme wide-angle applications,” Nikon says.

Other specs and features include a lightweight magnesium alloy body, internal focusing (IF) for a compact size, an electromagnetic diaphragm for even exposure during high-speed shooting and smooth exposure during video recording, a Fluorine coating that resists dirt/fingerprints/smudges, and a Nano Crystal Coat for reducing ghosting and flare.
